Tarn Crag "B" Walk Saturday 13th April

On Saturday 13th April there was an A walk and a B walk. Both walks started from Grasmere Village and climbed up to Easedale Tarn where there was a stop for wine and cake to celebrate Clive's birthday.

The A walkers then went on ahead. The B walkers continued climbing but at a slower pace. After scrambling up Belles Knott we turned right and reached beautiful Codale Tarn. It was cold and windy but we found a sheltered spot to have our lunch.

We then continued climbing up to Tarn Crag where there were two lovely mini tarns. John was "King of the Castle" on the very top. We explored and enjoyed the fantastic views. Despite the wind and cold we were reluctant to descend. It was a very steep descent but after passing Greathead Crag and Cockly Crag we eventually arrived in Far Easedale where John crossed the Beck by the old Stythwaite Stepping Stones. The rest of us used the bridge.

We walked down the valley to our well deserved cuppas at Lancrigg where we met up with the A walkers. John's G.P.S. machine said we had walked 9 miles with 2030ft of ascent. An absolutely super day. I gathered that the A walkers also had an equally great time.
