Report

This was an afternoon walk, approx 5 miles, 500 feet ascent. A group of 6 headed away from Heversham. The leader Sarah was aided by the group to find the tricky field exit onto Woodhouse Lane. Crossing Dallam School playing field, our first tea break was at the top of the hill. We explored the fields and green lanes of Hincaster and the Levens estate, before climbing up to Heversham Head trig point. The rain clouds greeted us, but we still had views of Whitbarrow, Arnside Knott and Farleton Fell. We passed the toposcope, down towards the visible church spire, noting a field of teddy bear sheep; (maybe Southdowns?). Our walk finished in the very large Heversham Church, with its parish chest and Northumbrian cross.
