A visit to peaceful Shap Abbey on a showery day.
A party of four, led by Mary Bullimore, starting from the centre of Shap, took pleasant field paths (over many stiles) to Rosgill. The infant River Lowther was then followed to Shap Abbey, where the peaceful ruins of the monastery and church were inspected. Lunch was taken here sheltering from the light drizzle amongst the ruins. The walk continued to Keld and then returned to Shap by lane and paths via the Goggleby Stone.
