A walk to Bolton-Le-Sands and back on a beautiful summer’s evening.

A party of fifteen started from Happy Mount Park car park. A narrow footpath was followed round the boundary of the Morecambe Golf Course crossing the Morecambe railway branch line and then going under the Main railway line to reach the Lancaster Canal at Rakes Head Bridge No 116, (one bridge north of Hasty Brow).
The canal was followed north through Hest Bank, where the houses and canal side adornments were admired, to reach Bolton-le-Sands at the A6 bridge (No 121, Mary Hutton’s, Town End).
Leaving the canal, Pasture Lane was followed down to the shore by Morecambe Lodge Caravan park. The walk continued south along the shore. Where the going became more difficult, due to the shingle and rocks, a large patch of washed-up coal was encountered. Eventually the leisure centre was reached, and the promenade regained. From there it was a short walk back to the cars as the sun set through clouds over Morecambe Bay.
A pleasant evening walk of 5miles.
